what every girl needs.

Sara found my dr.pepper lipsmacker yesterday and
decided it must be by her side at all times.

A flattering shade on every girl.

"I just need a little bit more, and then take a picture."

Well i'd like to think i'm the mess you'd wear with pride.
like some empty dress on the bed you've laid out for tonight.
maybe i'll tell you sometime.

time.sometime.

and you were right.
right.

you were right.
outside by your doorstep
in a worn out suit and tie,
i'll wait
for you to come down
where you'll find me.
where we'll shine.

an afternoon of epic bubbles.

Two hours of popsicles, chocolate cookies, bubbles, and a jungle gym.
We're set.
Lucy.
Phoebe.
Superior Bubbler.
Bubbles inside a bubble.
Lucy is Auggie's new best friend. He sat up there with her
for about 45 minutes.

rise to the bait.

Because my Sundays are oh-so-thrilling, here's a glimpse
of what I was doing.
I'll just stop here. And gaze out at the water. And do proper
"by the water" things. But wait... is that a fishing pier I see to my right?
La de da de da... just sitting here by the edge of the water
(I made sure to keep a sense of balance so as not to topple sideways into the water).
There's the fish! You can see him—
he was an agitated fellow (the fish, I mean).
"VICTORY!!" he shouted.
No, he didn't really shout anything,
but his pose was perfect for it.
"Fish—you are mine now."
He didn't really say that either.
What he really did say: "Yep, those snappers are biting today!
Practically jumped at me, this one."
Oh really? Snappers? Biting? Jumping?
Not liking those words...
(picks up feet away from water)
I was offered the fish as well, but I let this guy have it.
Yes, I'm just that generous...
Nothing like a fishing pier to bring people together.
That's what I always say.

all along the pier.

What I like best from what I took walking up and down the Mt.Pleasant Pier.

jessie wilcox-smith

A couple posts ago, I used an illustration by Jessie Wilcox Smith. Her drawings instantly remind me of The Secret Garden, A Little Princess, and Robert Louis Stevenson poems.  They're so perfectly detailed.

the prince and the pea?

Can one really have too many bed choices at his disposal?
Augustus has four. All of varying sizes.
I didn't arrange them like that. He did.
He likes them all in one space.
I assume that his thought process goes along the lines
of being able to move conveniently from one bed to the next.
He likes the biggest one the best.
In other Auggie news...

We made friends with a small black poodle and his owner. Solomon the poodle has some barking issues, but it's completely explainable. He's simply defending his manhood. You see, Solomon the poodle wears blue bows on his ears. Now I won't deny that I tie ribbons on Augustus' collar for holidays, but that's comparable to a bowtie.
But poor Solomon is also 12 years old, so he must try to make up for it and appear as superior as one can with blue bows on his head. Other than the barking, we're sure they'll be fast friends. By the time we all said goodbye, the barking had ceased to grumbling. I see good times for the two of them.
